Tung Jung (TJ) Tan

TJ is a principal in Control Risks’ Compliance, Forensics and Intelligence practice in Hong Kong. He has specialised in forensic accounting, corporate investigations, business intelligence and insolvency for more than 20 years. TJ has extensive experience in leading reactive investigations and proactive risk assessment reviews for multinational corporations across Asia. He has provided forensic accounting and investigative support to international law firms appointed as the independent advisers of publicly listed companies.

TJ has also led a number of business intelligence engagements relating to international trade disputes, where he provided confidential declarations to US government agencies. He has investigated bribery and corruption issues for companies in the manufacturing and healthcare industry.

Before joining Control Risks, TJ was a managing director of FTI Consulting’s forensic and litigation consulting practice based in Hong Kong, and prior to that, a director in the forensic accounting practice at LECG Hong Kong Ltd. TJ relocated to Hong Kong from Malaysia in 2006, when he joined Hill & Associates Hong Kong as a vice-president in its forensic and investigations practice. Prior to that, he was a manager in the corporate recovery practice of Andersen, which merged with Ernst & Young in 2002.

TJ has a bachelor of accountancy and is a Chartered Accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He speaks fluent English, Mandarin Chinese and Bahasa Malaysia, as well as conversational Cantonese and Hokkien.
